SOPA Invaders

For my entry into the SOPAjam PIPAjam I have made an arcade shooter with an abstract red and black style

The connection to the theme is pretty loose but I wanted to keep it simple as I’m working on another arcade shooter with more advanced mechanics soon, this seemed like a good opportunity to test the waters.

After using XNA for the Ludum Dare in December and being disappointed by the reception the framework received I have started using libGDX, chosen because it will support all major desktop platforms and Android.

I have been pleased with it so far, it required a bit more discipline, and a lot of the helpers I take for granted with XNA or FlashPunk will have to be implemented as I go but the appeal of cross platform development has lured me in.

Pardon My Template

This is the pre-launch of Cursed Sword Studios and I will have to ask for some patience with the layout.  I am getting this site up early so I can use it to host the SOPAjam and Mini-LD game I will be making later in the week.

The good thing with this strategy is that I’ll have a stable location to host the games from.

The bad thing is that I’ll be too busy making games (Yay!) to make this site look unique until next week.

The games themselves will be developed using Java and libGDX targeting Android, Desktop and if I get my act together java applets for browsers.

SOPAjam: I’m making a space shooter called  SOPA invaders with an intro that might end up being an all your base parody.

MiniLD: The theme is fear and I’m planning on making a game based on a group of people trapped (shipwrecked?) in an unfamiliar location.  They will have to survive by eating unknown plants that will have a variety of beneficial or harmful effects.
